DESCRIPTION:Come join us in the ANA Studio for a studio class every other Wednesday. Starting September 3rd the ANA Studio will be open to anyone that would like to come paint with an instructor/artists. Each session will be hosted by a different instructor\, but you can work in whatever medium you would prefer. We are here to assist you as needed. Each instructor will do a short presentation at the beginning of the studio and then be there to assist and coach you as needed. Classes are 3 hours long and you pay at the door. DESCRIPTION:As a representational painter\, I’m attracted to the variety of formal possibilities in a motif; characteristics like the shapes of shadows or the colors of forms. I respond with playfulness\, then objectivity\, then moments of raw emotion\, which often look like rescuing the effort with a unified simplification\, or messing it up to give myself more problems to solve.

SUMMARY:Watercolor Intuitive Abstract Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Gary’s new abstract watercolor 3 day workshop will be filled with material and tips for new and old artists wanting to have some capability to paint in an intuitive abstract manner.  The cost for this workshop will be $300 for ANA Members and $350 for non-members. \nGary will run this workshop at the new ANA Studio located at 300 N 2nd St\, Rogers AR on Wednesday through Friday\, October 22\, 23\, and 24 from 9:30 to 3:30 daily.  More information will be coming and sign up will be through the ANA website at:  www.artistsnwarkansas.com. \nIf you have trouble signing up\, contact Gary at 479-249-5405 and he will assist you. \nThe Daily Drill\nDay One – I will demonstrate how to do an angular abstract painting with three steps that you can watch and learn from.  This will involve an initial drawing followed by blocking in the primary colors leaving a center of interest for later development. Next will be working from light to dark and development of the center of interest.  Last will be additional enhancement of the painting. \nDay Two –will involve doing an intuitive abstract where I will demo a lot of different approaches for you to choose from in your painting.  This will involve using many different materials you may choose to use.  I will bring stencils for use by you\, tape of various widths\, salt\, alcohol\, etc.  Bring a mouth atomizer if you have one\, you may want it for texture.  Most of all\, bring an open mind. \nDay Three  – will involve a series of demos for doing a painting of abstract glasses and bottles.  This will be a very fun one that everyone in the past has fully enjoyed.

DESCRIPTION:Bring whatever artwork you’re working on or start something new. We are setting up tables in the big room or bring your easels and come paint or work with us. We will all work together for the evening and visit amongst ourselves. You can discuss what you are working on and find inspiration and support in the group setting. We’ll have some finger foods and and good friends. \nThis is an event that you can mark on your calendar – the 4th Tuesday every month is Social Paint Night.
