I often paint with an impressionistic palette and use heavy textures and dramatic colors. I love the depth and uniqueness the texture gives. My presentations range from abstract to realism, but my favorite creations are tissue paper & mixed media on hard boards. I prefer palette knife and hand painting techniques to create “one of a kind” artworks. I feel each piece should become a conversation piece for its owner and allow the owner to interject their own personalities into the life of the artwork. One painting I did was of a woman in black, greys, and whites struggling to come out of the water with a suspended window in the background. Viewers, mainly women, would cry in front of the painting and relate it to physical abuse and that the woman was getting away. While there was only blurred color in the window, many women saw a threatening figure that the woman was escaping from. I learned more about the meaning of art from my viewers than from any art class. From that point on I have been more conscience about putting meaning into my work.
