The stone sculptures I create are intended to be a reflection and revelation of time and nature itself. Taking these stones from nature directly and then exposing the form, colors, and patterns hidden within the structure of the rock for millions of years is my true passion. Doing this in a way that shows depth, detail, and complexity clearly for the viewer to enjoy, is the goal of each of my unique sculptures. Conveying the appearance of movement and “flow” in the static stone I work is the overarching motivation behind my stone sculptures. To make a normally stationary object look as if it has been “caught in motion” demands the viewers’ attention, as it looks both natural and unnatural at the same time and draws them in to examine the fine detail hidden within the stone itself. Planning, preparation, and craftsmanship allow me to pull the forms I see within the stone out and bring them to life in a way that exposes their beauty on an entirely new level.
