Max Jacobson

Growing up a curious doodler, Max developed an interest in art at an early age. A Chicagoland native, he became immersed in comic books, graffiti, & skateboarding. Those interests brought him to study illustration and painting at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he became influenced by the abstract expressionist movement. This range of influences created two distinct styles in Max’s work: the energetic, crude abstractions on the one hand & the highly detailed, architectural pieces on the other. This contrast in styles creates a tension in his work that shows the two inquisitive sides of his artistic mind.

“Abstract art is uniquely modern. It is a fundamentally romantic response to modern life – rebellious, individualistic, unconventional, sensitive, irritable.”

Robert Motherwell
