Calligrapher, poet, and former tech writer Jo Lightfoot will be the featured presenter at ANA’s July Monthly Meeting and Artist Presentation in Downtown Rogers.
Calligraphy – “beautiful writing” – has a literal meaning that has evolved over centuries to encompass far more than the written word. It is an art form that engages aesthetics, emotion, history, and technique.
In this ANA session, Jo Lightfoot—whose life’s work has explored the intertwined paths of words and visual art—will share highlights of the many elements that make calligraphy such a rich and enduring practice. The presentation will include the history and structure of key lettering styles, demonstrations, visual examples, and opportunities for participants to try a few techniques themselves.
