Cora Hardin

My name is Cora Hardin, and I am a high school student and artist. As a child growing up in Arkansas, I became accustomed to sunlight dancing across my arms, diffused by a canopy of trees and the texture of sugary strands of ripened ozark persimmons. My immersion in the natural world not only influenced the content of my art, but also taught me to see the world differently. I believe that experiencing the outdoors requires a kind of surrender to life that builds empathy and encourages the best artistic expression. Oftentimes, my favorite pieces emerge from patience and openness, rather than the active seeking of an idea. I enjoy working with colored pencils and oil paints.
