Gene Brack
Abstract oil paintings done with knife and cold wax to dramatically illustrate visuals that inspire and cultivate thought and imagination
After earning a Bachelor degree in theatre, Gene tackled an MFA in set design at graduate school with an out-of-the-box instructor at the University of Southern Mississippi. Gene’s creative bent has thrived in thinking, writing and visual impact on stage and canvas. He began pursuing oil painting in his sixtieth year. He was greatly influenced by Midwest artists who studied at the Chicago Art Institute as well as the art community in Asheville, Tennessee. There, he was introduced to applying cold wax in oil paints. Dramatic results of both influences included numerous sales in outdoor shows and commissions in the Midwest. Today, as a life-time-learner and following 44 years in ministry and education, he continues to explore dramatic abstracts that touch the heart and stir the emotions. Now in ANA, Gene’s excited to move forward in the camaraderie of the Northwest art scene.
