Karlena Fletcher

Karlena Fletcher is an Arkansas native who recently relocated to Fayetteville. She received a BFA in Painting from Boston University in 2021, and is now pursuing her MFA in Painting at the University of Arkansas. Karlena has been painting since childhood, and learned to appreciate art history from a young age by traveling the world with her family. Her current oil painting practice is very much aligned with the long-standing sensibility of noticing and preserving exquisite visual moments in otherwise overlooked places. Karlena looks to post-war observational painters such as Jane Freilicher and Patrick Caulfield for perspective in her studio. Although Karlena’s current body of work is quite personal and diaristic, she is also eager to make paintings for others. If you are interested in commissioning a custom painting to capture your unique perspective of your home and environment, please reach out to Karlena through her website or via email. She also invites you to browse her portfolio in its entirety on her website, and follow her on Instagram for behind the scenes images of her painting practice.

“The silence on the floor of my house is all the questions and all the answers in the universe.”
