Considering my training in art therapy, psychoanalysis, and humanism lead me to Something I refer to as Abstract Reality. What might seem a contradiction in definition. The Visual compositions are established through the eyes of artist/creator drawing in the observer through common shared life experiences. Realistic in compositional approach but with elements simplified into abstract qualities. Akin to how we move memories from short to long term than back to recall.

My whole life has been based in making a living in the visual arts. An art director promoting businesses, illustrator, graphic designer and an art educator teaching skills, techniques, and creativity. Now I’m in a place where I will be using my art and life experiences to create my own path. Several years ago, I wanted to create my own style and movement based on how the artist and observer could interact in the language of visual expression and interpretation. For most of us the scene is realistic but almost hyper realistic how shapes, colors and dimensions are revealed. The observer is drawn into the work of art because of a shared experience but through transference the recall becomes their internalize memory and experience.

It is unfortunate that through all time we have not come to the realization that art is the unspoken language of the soul, that connects us all and keeps life’s challenges from spinning us into chaos.

“Art is to console those who are broken by life.” – Vincent Van Gogh

“A work of art which isn’t based on feeling isn’t art at all.” – Paul Cézanne.
