Gary Johnson’s Flower Workshop

Gary’s Flower workshop will be on painting an Iris flower. Gary will send each person signing up for his workshop a drawing for your to transfer to watercolor paper so you can get started painting without having to draw the flowers first. He will use a 1/4 sheet of watercolor paper for his demo. He will also pass out a greeting card with a preprinted scene on it that you can paint and then send to someone of your choosing. If you have time, paint it during the workshop hours or take it home to paint at your leisure.
There may be a few hidden surprises during the course of the day as well, so plan to come and have some fun.
This will be a one day class on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Gary will hold this class at the new ANA Studio located at 300 N 2nd St, Rogers AR from 9:30 to 3:30. If you have trouble signing up, contact Gary at 479-249-5405
Gary Johnson’s Flowers Materials List
Gary will email you a drawing for you to transfer to watercolor paper prior to the start of the workshop.
- Use a 1/4 sheet (11″ X 15″) of 140 lb or 300 lb watercolor paper, whichever you prefer.
- Whatever watercolor paints in colors you want to use to paint an assortment of iris’s. Gary will paint them in a deep purple, gold, possibly red, and yellow.
- A mounting Board with masking tape for your watercolor paper if you choose to do it this way.
- An assortment of watercolor brushes; rounds and flats
- A watercolor palette.
- Water containers, paper towels, facial tissues/ consider an apron to protect your clothing.
- A note pad, pencil, and a hair dryer if you need it. Gary will bring two hairdryers.

Gary Johson
Gary Johnson is a Fayetteville, AR resident and self-taught artist, who now teaches classes and workshops. Educated in engineering and business with both bachelors and masters degrees he’s traveled extensively and taken workshops to help develop new ideas for his art by being a keen observer of surroundings he visits and paying particular attention to color, shape, and value. He is a Signature Member in the SCWS, KWS, WHS, and MSW.
