    Supplies

I will work with whatever watercolor supplies you bring, but if you are going shopping, I have suggestions.

    • Tube watercolors are the best to work with.  A warm and cool of the primary colors such as; Aureolin Yellow, New Gamboge, Cad Red Light, Red Rose Deep, Alizarin Crimson, Ultamarine Blue and Cobalt. Paints from companies like da Vinci, Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton are great.  Watercolors in pan form will be fine, too.  If you are just “dipping your toe” in to watercolor you might bring a basic Prang watercolor set or set of 16 colors.
    • Or bring your favorite watercolor set that you already have.
    • 2 or 3 sheets of 140-pound cold pressed watercolor paper. 11 x 14 inches or whatever sizes you have on hand.  We will work on painting exercises on several sheets of small paper.
    • Masking tape and a board to tape your watercolor paper to.
    • Your watercolor palette or a large white plate to mix in.
    • An assortment of round brushes and flat watercolor brushes. I suggest rounds in sizes 14, 10, 8 and 6.  I suggest a 1 inch and a ½ inch flat.  And one rigger or liner brush.
    • Pencil and kneaded eraser
    • Containers for water
    • Paper towels
    • Sketchbook

Wonderful! Diane is a great teacher and example. Her consistently cheerful and supportive attitude is a boon to artists & students alike. And her art is skillful, fresh & original.
