Priya Kapoor

Priya Kapoor is an Indian American artist who lives in Austin, TX. Creativity comes in many forms and Priya Kapoor has expressed her creativity through food, design, writing and art. She was fortunate enough to be born and raised in vibrant Northern India. When she moved to Austin 20 years ago, she brought her passion for colors and her rich cultural history reflects thought her art. “Color stimulates emotion”, said Matisse and Priya sees life as a colorful extension of a positive, hopeful and a vivid future. She works with mixed-media, acrylics and most of her work is abstract in nature. She finds inspiration for her art from her Indian heritage, daily life, travel experiences and current events. Her piece, Life is a juggle, came from her own life experience of being a wife, mother and artist. Another piece, Wildfire, was inspired by the Australian wildfires earlier this year and some of her work is inspired by the rich Indian mythology. She hosted her first solo exhibition in February 2020 and found great success and appreciation for her work. She was chosen as one of the artists to display her work at Bass Concert Hall this year and is looking forward to a lot more exhibits in the coming years.

“Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.” – Keith Haring Py
